Start in the bathroom.
The bathroom is the best place to spend a majority of your precious time cleaning. It is after all the one room where, if they need to use it, your guests will have the time alone to sit and look at the state of affairs.
Get the toilet wiped down, clean all of the dried toothpaste and water spots off of the counter. Polish the fixtures. Put out fresh towels. Give the floor a quick sweep if you can’t mop. If you can’t get to the bathtub, Pull the shower curtain closed. Time well spent.
From the bathroom, head to the kitchen. Rinse your dirty dishes and stack them neatly in the sink. They don’t have to be washed, but keep it neat. If you have a dishwasher, Load it up quickly. Again. They don’t need to be run immediately, just gives a neat impression.
Tidy up around the entrance. Keeping shoes and jackets neatly in their places will make a great first impression when your visitors arrive.
Run the vacuum. A quick swipe with the vacuum will get any dirt up that you may not even have seen. If you put a couple drops of essential oils in your vacuum hose, It will fill the room and house with a pleasant smell. This is especially handy if you have pets. It will get the stale smell out of the air.
